What Dr. Hirose treats
The practice is limited to endodontics: diagnosing tooth pain and saving teeth from the inside.
- Root canal treatmentSaving an inflamed or infected tooth, usually in one or two visits.
- Root canal retreatmentA second chance for a tooth whose earlier root canal has not healed.
- Apicoectomy and endodontic microsurgeryMicrosurgery at the root tip when a root canal alone is not enough.
- Cracked teethFinding and treating cracks before they reach the root.
- Knocked-out and injured teethKnocked-out, loosened and broken teeth, in adults and children.
- Dental emergenciesSevere pain, swelling or an injured tooth: what to do now.
Not sure what your pain means? Read the tooth pain guide.
Working under the microscope
A canal can be narrower than a pencil lead, and some teeth hide one more than the textbook shows. The surgical microscope magnifies and lights the inside of the tooth so Dr. Hirose can find and treat what is there.
- About 3x
- how often endodontists using magnification found the hidden second canal in upper molars, compared with no magnification.
- 94%
- success for modern endodontic microsurgery, against 59% for older root-end surgery, in a meta-analysis from Penn’s endodontics department.

A clear answer
Dr. Hirose examines the tooth, takes x-rays, and explains what he finds and what it costs before anything begins.
Treatment
Local anesthetic, a calm pace, and usually one or two visits.
Follow-up
A short check about a year later, because healing at the root tip takes time.
Trouble breathing or swallowing, swelling spreading toward your eye or neck, or a serious injury to the face? Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
For referring dentists
Your referral forms, the secure referral portal and both fax numbers stay the same.
Fees and insurance
At your first visit you hear the likely number of visits and the fee. The office files your dental insurance claim for you as a courtesy and estimates your share before treatment. Payment is due at the visit by Visa, Mastercard, debit cards, checks or cash.
